該劇講述了抗日戰(zhàn)爭時期，在東北肇 州的大地上，江雪原、牛勝力、董連山、 褚長德、關(guān)奎等幾名幸存下來的獨立營戰(zhàn) 士頑強不屈，英勇奮戰(zhàn)，在敵占區(qū)與日軍 大部隊一次次展開斗智斗勇的游擊戰(zhàn)，并 最終迎來了抗戰(zhàn)勝利的曙光。

　　正值抗日戰(zhàn)爭最艱苦的時期，普通農(nóng)民吳應(yīng)德（何政軍 飾）從日寇的活人實驗中僥幸逃生，并由此加入八路軍。在一次行動中，吳用自制的怪槍射殺敵軍頭目，其造槍才能和果敢膽識得到八路軍修械所廠長任如堅（張光北 飾）的認可，遂將吳招至麾下。在廠里，他結(jié)識了隊長羅克繩（李成儒 飾）、神槍手柳寶（范雷 飾）、兵工專家楊墨（羿坤 飾）、游擊隊長姚芳（陳麗娜 飾）、女醫(yī)生江燕（李依玲 飾）等各有所長的同志。大家齊心協(xié)力，共同投入優(yōu)良兵器的研發(fā)和改進。而與此同時，以谷野正雄（馬衛(wèi)軍 飾）為首的日寇殫精竭慮尋找修械所所在，急于將八路軍的蓬勃力量扼殺在萌芽中。

　　單身女性花美麗（宋丹丹 飾）自強不息，不僅盡心撫養(yǎng)兒子高闖（王亮 飾）長大，還經(jīng)營著一家生意興隆的火鍋店。唯一讓她揪心的是，高闖的戶口不在北京，對將來的高考影響不可估量。情急無奈，花姐恨不得趕緊找個有北京戶口的男人結(jié)婚。在婚戀顧問劉瓊斯（梁靜 飾）的建議下，花姐決定不惜假結(jié)婚弄到戶口。一波三折后，花姐邂逅了瓊斯的哥哥劉得意（范明 飾）。得意沒錢沒房子，被老婆三振出局，連女兒的撫養(yǎng)權(quán)也無法留住。為了生意東山再起，得意選擇和花姐結(jié)為夫婦。各自懷著不同目的的二人走到一起，期間不免經(jīng)歷各種波折和考驗。

　　Speaking about her role in the new series, Claire Skinner, said: "I'm a huge fan of McDonald & Dodds so I'm delighted to be joining the cast as Chief Superintendent Ormond. Ormond is a quietly intimidating character so she'll be keeping McDonald & Dodds on their toes throughout this new series."
