本劇是BBC基于《A Very English Scandal》打造詩選類劇集，考慮到故事背景變化，續(xù)作重命名為《A Very British Scandal》。故事將講述英國上層階級遭遇的丑聞危機。
　　新故事背景為蘇格蘭，聚焦1963年阿蓋爾公爵夫人Margaret Campbell的性丑聞事件。在Margaret（Claire Foy飾）與第二任丈夫混亂的離婚過程中，其丈夫阿蓋爾公爵（Paul Bettany飾）拿到了她與一名陌生男性發(fā)生性行為的照片，Margaret由此被稱為"骯臟的公爵夫人"。
